MARCH EVENT INFO POST: A SOUND OF THUNDER

man, it’s sure been a wild couple of months, huh? Fio has been having weird dreams. a mirror ate Bash. Crabb touched some stuff. Ava and Pratt fed Ebalon’s corpse to a ghost. wild stuff.

anyway, entirely unrelated, there’s suddenly giant holes in reality everywhere?

that’s normal. that’s probably fine. it’s friendly.

WELCOME TO MEMSHARE EVENT BUT BUILT DIFFERENT! throughout the month of March, large cracks will begin to form around the Serena Eterna: on walls, on floors, in the air, under water, anywhere and everywhere. these cracks are completely benign until touched; anyone who touches one will find themselves pulled inside, along with anyone standing too close to them.

inside, they will find themselves in the middle of a fellow passenger’s memory - physically. they will be able to interact with the world of the memory, and those inside it will react to them and their actions. what they do in the memory will have a lasting impact: namely, if you die in the memory, you die in real life, and the new memory formed by their actions will join the existing memory inside the memory-owner’s, well, memory.

super confusing and weird, right? let’s try to explain this through an example.

a crack forms, containing Jack’s memory of the day he and Jill went up the hill. the crack, at separate times, is touched by Tom, alone, and Dick and Harry, together. while in the memory, Tom saves Jack when he falls down in the hill; meanwhile, Dick and Harry are killed when Tom and Jill collide with them, killing them both. Tom leaves the memory unscathed, while Dick and Harry revive in their cabins, thankful that they seem to have been spared the Dumb Death Tax.

from that point on, until otherwise noted, Jack will have three separate memories of the same event: falling down and breaking his crown, being saved by Tom, and dying. despite the fact that these three memories are very much mutually exclusive, and the fact that Jack also has memories of his life after apparently dying, he will be unable to discern which memory is the true one on his own. they will all feel equally real to him.

(note: this isn’t permanent! probably. you have a chance to fix it! a chance.)

please feel free to use this post for plotting purposes. memories can be shared as many times as you feel you can handle; how they are shared (threading out the interaction, handwaving and just writing the memory and the reaction separately, etc) is entirely up to you.

oh, and one more thing.

there will also be npc memories available. these memories will be much less interactive than passenger ones, but will contain Delicious Lore. sign-up thread below, closes on March 1st. memories will be allocated randomly to no more than one or two characters each.

Erin Plotting

[personal profile] crushed_pearls 2023-02-19 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I intend to make two memories available for Erin, one with a limited sign-up and the other open to all.

The limited signup is The Battle of Mirror, Mirror, in which Erin and many others assault the fortress of rogue Lost who are luring in teenagers on false pretenses in order to get them transformed into changelings to use as soldiers against the True Fae. This will likely be quite an involved scene, so I'm looking to run it once with up to four characters. It's gonna get nuts! It will be balls to the walls! In many ways I will have to take on a GM-ish role for it. Signups are not first-come-first-served but rather will be selected either to advance or build interesting CR; lemme know if you're interested here.

The second, open memory will be the execution of Erin's crew, a somewhat more passive event (...unless you do something...) during which Erin was, in life, a passive witness going through some shit.

Extremely vague Fio plans

[personal profile] sabigoe 2023-02-19 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't want to reveal too much and mostly, I just want to put this up here with my vague plans. I'm planning to improv this while praying I do not fuck this up. Unless you've gone through her canon or maybe she did drop some info about herself in our threads, you'll have some idea what you may be seeing! If there's a specific memory that you really, really want to go to though, let me know.

There are two main areas in Fio's sadly short lifetime of memories:

The Cage where sin sleeps ... the world connected to Fio's dreams which is a bunch of towers that go on endlessly. OTHER people's memories from across the multiverse are inside of creepy scarecrow statues, HOWEVER these other memories will NOT be accessible, so no memoryception. The Cage is a place where you can walk around though! Fio likes this place more than being awake. :(

And the human world (a version of Earth somewhere in the multiverse!) ... self-explanatory, I guess! Fio comes from a medieval-ish type of setting.

Content warnings that come into mind right now: classism, child neglect, bullying, murder, death, child death. Most of this takes place during Fio's life in the human world. I'll repeat the same warnings during the actual event post so you'll still have a chance to give me a heads up on what to avoid while I decide on a memory for your character to explore. While I am noting the content warnings, there are happy memories too- just specify if you want something more chill when you tag-in!

Sorry for all the edits, but if you did opt-in to her nightmare post- I think it may be interesting for her to visit that memory that was shown to her...

Okie Plotting

[personal profile] mistertwister 2023-02-19 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
So! I have five memories to share. They are as follows:

First Fight. Learn about the day young Cal was first pushed too far and figured out that people were more likely to leave you alone if you hit them back.

Home Life. Get a glimpse of life in the Hitchcock house. Working with his dad, playing with his brother, gardening with his mom. Learn the tree from its roots.

Last Straw. Find out what it was that drove Cal to run away from home, and what he ran into.

The Storm. Bear witness to the darkest days of his life, to the terrible storm, the endless idyllic hell, and the Storm Chaser.

Homecoming. Be there for those first moments of Cal coming back from the other side. Find what he had to find. Watch him choose to be Okie, and learn what that really means. WARNINGS: This one involves dead family, and finding them.

I plan on limiting each prompt to two or three threads. New and old cr welcome, but I might lean more towards furthering ties than establishing them.

ava plotting

[personal profile] decohere 2023-02-19 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't want to overplan anything since i like to see how stuff plays out, but i have a variety of ideas and i'd like to see which ones people were actually interested in or how to develop them to make them more fun to interact with

-the quantum tunnel explosion of elihas starr's lab. hang around for a tour until the alarms start blaring? ava's 5 here and her parents end up dead. it's her power origin story and i think a few people have vaguely heard the details, so i'm not sure how many would immediately know what's going to happen. the only one i'd allow to outright prevent the explosion is césar but other types of interfering are obviously welcome. getting caught in the quantum blast would result in death for anyone but ava.

-young ava at shield, held in a glass containment chamber and trying to keep herself busy with a crossword puzzle. you can try chatting with her until they drag her away for more unethical experiments, plenty of screaming and crying involved. idk are you a bad enough bitch to try fighting all those shield agents?

-ghost on a field mission, earlier in her career. either stealing intel at an enemy base, or an assassination with strict no witnesses instructions. trying to interfere will make you a target, but... well if you're somebody too obviously an innocent or outright weird she's going to have troubles knowing what to do about it lol.

-join ava in a run down mid-country motel room watching the ongoing tv coverage of the shield is hydra reveal that she's just managed to escape from (aftermath of captain america the winter soldier is the reference point here.) and then the authorities show up trying to bring her back into custody. things might get messy! especially if she thinks you're the one that tipped them off to her location. oof.

obviously all the above have ways to die! i mostly want to know which concepts are most appealing so i know which to focus on expanding and working out details.

Edit: i'm also wanting to do a memshare of ava's time in the battle royale, mostly for characters that never got to experience it. during this event ava found undine dead, watched conan die in the crossfire of a fight with lucy, phased lucy into a tree, told watson to fuck off because she didn't want it to come down to the two of them having to kill each other, and then snapped on the third day of no sleep and heightened paranoia and "mercy" killed crabb and then buried herself shortly after. so let me know if there's a particular moment there... oh also a singing billy bass.

Valdis Plotting

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2023-02-19 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Queen of Death: If anyone wants to see the Valdis before she got her soul back, all the way when she was a ruthless Queen of Hounds during the fight where she kills an archangel and destroys the holy blade Genesis. Of course she also decimates the battlefield, so there is a high chance of death here if you want one.

True Love: Valdis and her first love, Malachi. There are multiple memories involving him, many happy and sad ones, so this one is very open. You can see them on a date in the meadow. His proposal. Them just being cute at each other. There's also the memory where he forgets who she is in his old age if you want something sad, but not traumatic.

Burning the Garden: Valdis before she was Valdis. Meira's kidnapping from the Garden of Eden by Fenrir and Amos. This prompt may include injuries to characters if you want them.

Wildcard: I can come up with more if wanted!

vague helena plans

[personal profile] decrypter 2023-02-19 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
so, in the interest of retaining my own sanity, i'm going to be approaching this event slightly differently! instead of writing a list of prompts and letting people choose, i'm instead going to customize a memory for each responder, to allow maximum creativity and brain bending.

if you're interested in taking a walk through helena's head, please comment below with what character you want, and if you'd prefer a lighter or heavier memory, as well as how much personal insight you want. the heaviest are of course the memories where she dies, which run a high risk for injury and/or death for others involved, and i will be limiting writing those to 3 people since i'll have to be npcing at least 2 other people in a scene.

but i'm also perfectly happy to go for something less stressful and give people just a nice day, or just hand them some hela lore! it doesn't have to be only trauma out here.

Dedue Plotting

[personal profile] glassaxolotl 2023-02-19 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
So I have a fairly involved memshare idea that I have been working out with Bird. As such, I’d like to limit involvement to 3-4 people.

Meet the Blue Lions, at possibly the worst time to meet the Blue Lions!

Garreg Mach monastery has just been invaded and destroyed by Edelgard’s forces. When the Lions receive word that Professor Byleth went missing during the invasion, Dimitri (who is currently deeply psychotic) suddenly disappears from the Lions’ camp. Join the Blue Lions House in an attempt to find Dimitri and bring him back to safety.

Those involved will learn many new pieces of information. This memory takes place at a point in time past when Dimitri appeared on the ship, so he does not know that there will be a war at the end of their school-year (and Dedue very much hasn’t told him). Your character would also learn that Dimitri is actually a prince and Dedue is his vassal, if they don’t already know that.

Content Warnings: themes of psychosis, mental illness, ableism, racism, war, grief

Darcy Plotting

[personal profile] saltwaterlungs 2023-02-20 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Alright, big ticket items here.

A first primary warning that Darcy either dies or comes close to dying in almost all of these memories. It's fine she gets better. Second is that Ghosts Are Real (tm) in Darcy's world, but not everyone can see them. Darcy is a ghost hunter of often violent and destructive ghosts. As a result, depending on the prompt, there's a very real chance your character could get fucked up things they can't see. Keep it in mind.

Basic outlines for memories I'm loosely penciling in, in roughly chronological order:

Mercy Street: Darcy sneaks off during mass and gets in trouble for climbing a barrier + trying to kiss a statue of Mary. Will feature her parents in case you wanna ask what the fuck is wrong with them that produced Darcy.

Country Roads: Darcy bored out of her brains on her Aunt's farm in the picturesque French-Swiss border mountains. She will take 0 convincing to rack off and set something on fire.

Death by Drowning: Darcy fuckin dies the first time. punch her murderer, drown her again, idk I'm not your dad

Slut Skirt: Darcy gets taken to her first music gig! This is one of the few post-sin-eater memories that doesn't involve outright death so enjoy it. You might actually even get to talk to Darcy in this one.

Boombaya: Darcy and teammates at a fencing Grand Prix in Foggia. This one is probably gonna be a little less interactive, unless you want to like. interrupt the tournament or something.

Internet Friends: Darcy and her Krewe fight a convent of ghost nuns possessing an entire Smart Home. Haunted blender. Haunted Oven. Haunted Alexas everywhere. The doors and windows are all locked. Are you a bad enough dude to fight a ghost nun??

Dyin Day: Darcy gets murdered by Avery. :)

HMU if you wanna discuss other shit, I'm cool to mine her backstory for other shit if nothing appeals here, and also hmu if you want a memory more focused on one of her Krewemates or her parents or teammates or etc.
goodweather: (thanks for watching!)

Phil plotting

[personal profile] goodweather 2023-02-20 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
The only memories open without planning: spending time in Punx. This is in the latter half of the musical where Phil is learning how to be a decent person and is going around interacting with townsfolk, talking to them, learning random shit, and generally just hanging around. It's a nice insight into what a really big chunk of his life looked like. Or you can fuck off from him and go talk to Rita! Note that he will absolutely ping that something is off, and notice your character almost immediately if they come into proximity, because of how well he's memorized the day's routine.

The other ideas are closed to specific plotting for the sake of my time bandwidth:

- A day in the life of Phil "Bitchfit" Connors in his early Punx days where he is the worst man on earth, pre-Philandering. Only one of these because I feel bad whenever I'm mean :( And I'm not as scathingly witty as he is anyway.
- Phil's wedding with Rita, where most of the guests are from her side, with two family members and a bunch of coworkers from Phil's. (Who are also technically Rita's side, because they are all from the same station.)
- First Prismatica memory from his last game, in which he has a playfully flirtatious definitely-no-homo dance with his best friend Henry Cooldown in front of an entire audience of random people. Absolutely ignore the fact that he's a handsome two-tailed kitsune fox for seemingly no reason. Maybe chat him up after the fact.
- Second Prismatica memory, in which Phil got turned into a vampire and starved so hard he kept accidentally draining people, OOPS.

also idk i made a bunch of you watch the show with me so if you have other ideas lmk

Daisy Plotting

[personal profile] hadnoright 2023-02-20 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
- The Daisy Scar: 11 year old Daisy dares her best friend Calvin to investigate the sound of a fight from an abandoned construction site, finds him being whispered to by a strange creature, and is thrown into a fencepost when she tries to run. Aka: the day Daisy gets touched by the Hunt. Any interference could easily change the outcome. Limit 2, probably?

- First Kill: (cw police brutality) Daisy kills Calvin when they're both in their late twenties, after he got away with violent crime one too many times and she took it into her own hands. The moment Daisy becomes a full Avatar. High chance of violence against intruders who don't manage to hide amongst the trees, also high chance of death especially if you smell non-human. Limit 2, probably?

- With Basira amongst the stacks: No not like that. Basira trying to convince a very weakened Daisy to resume hunting, as Daisy argues against it. You can absolutely hide behind another row of archival materials and just listen to this one, though if you draw attention to yourself it's at your own risk.

- Chilling with Jon: Daisy and Jon sat in the Archives office between statements, just talking and/or listening to the latest episode of the Archers. Someone walking in wouldn't be all that weird, but would raise a lot of questions and Daisy is very protective of the archives crew by then so anyone reading non-human is at risk of protective hostility.

- Old Boat Memories: Look this could be a variety of things. One of many Battle Royales. The time Daisy let Basira kill her rather than hurt her when she got cursed by a Leitner book. Daisy hunting Pickles for daring to hit on Basira. I could think of something if someone wanted a look back at how things were on the old boat, which comes with a high chance of violence from multiple directions.

I'm also willing to try and come up with more options/to customise things, Daisy's just got a lot of options that are just... murder, attempted murder, sitting around the archives, etc. etc. so the range is fairly limited lmao. Other big moments for her are hard to turn into interactive scenes.

Ruby Plotting

[personal profile] littlefairytale 2023-02-20 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
- Yang and Ruby in the woods: A three year old Ruby is pulled in a cart by her 5 year old sister, Yang, to an old hut in the woods that Yang thinks is tied to the mom that abandoned her. They almost get attacked by Beowolf Grimm until their Uncle saves them.

- Yang raising Ruby: Yang and Ruby at somewhere around 8-10 and 6-8 years old, pottering around their house whilst their Dad, Taiyang, is either in a depression nest upstairs or out at work, where Yang's acting like a mini parent. Visitors won't be unheard of, or you could get away with watching from the stairs.

- Penny Dies: You appear in the entrance to the Amity Coliseum arena shortly before Pyrrha accidentally tears Penny, a robotic girl, apart with the strings of her own weapon. Ruby appears just a little too late to intervene and collapses crying. There's a whole villain speech and a giant bird Grimm that will happen regardless of any possible divergences.

- Ruby and Penny pining vibing: Ruby and Penny talking in an Atlas military supply vehicle, it's just them and a drone-like robot on a very long supply drive. Chill, but if you make any noise from the back of the van they will react to the intruder.

There's probably more options, it's just that a lot of Ruby's canon is fights and ensemble scenes. So there's a look-in at her friends all bonding over food, but it's like 6 extra teens I'd have to write, etc. etc. Willing to think of custom things.

WAYNE Plotting? Sorta?

[personal profile] ablativeholopleather 2023-02-20 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Basically all just vague starting points that are less Actual Plans and more like...idk an interest gauge in a more official capacity:

+Gardening- You join Wayne for a very chill sort of day in his vegetable garden, far before the events of the Hylemxylem. You can meet his cat, watch TV, hang out on the cliffside and watch the ocean. Maybe you're that one neighbor that's only barely affected by the nonsense of the 'xylem's signal!

+The Desert- One of two ways for this one: He could already have Dedusmuln with him, or at least be out on his errand to help his lovely new archeologist friend. You can help them find the fabled Paper Cup. This comes with a possible side of combat and death. Speaking of...

+Death- Maybe you were already in the Afterlife, maybe you were part of his team when they first got walloped by the Fleshstache. Either way, now you're on a beach that feels as if it's made of kinetic sand, there are fish that will hold halting conversations with you. There's a couch to nap on, a water cooler to chat around, and you don't have to go anywhere for a while if you don't want to.

+The obligatory Trauma Option- Wayne's first encounter with a Warpo, a Poolwine-corrupted Wayne Larva. It will chase you down. You can either fight and kill it, or flee and watch Wayne have a very quiet breakdown.

+The Airship- This comes with the suggestion that you're already part of the Crew. Maybe you came onto the ship as a party member like Somsnosa, Dedusmuln and Pongorma. Maybe you came stock WITH the ship as the pilot or an engineer or something else equally handy. Either way, you get to exist with this group of deceptively soft nerds hanging out and occasionally cuddle-puddling on the couch.

+The Concert- Moonage Lobotomy live in concert! See Wayne and his crew perform some funky acid surf rock, get some merch.

I WOULD like to maybe limit this to one or two people per idea just to keep myself from getting confused and/or overwhelmed. I also welcome other suggestions for things to do under these vague ideas like encounters with large but harmless bugs. Do you want to be clay-like? Do you want to maintain your original form? Do you wanna get weird with it? Let's talk!!

Solstice Plans - REPLY TO SECOND COMMENT BELOW

[personal profile] serialskiller 2023-02-20 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Johnny - Hiatusing in March, will not be going into anyone else’s memshares.
The one memory of his I’m making available is Johnny alone in the Blue Horseshoe Pub after he’s bought it and begun his conquest of the Margrave Building.
Strict limit of 3.

Bash -
1. A drive in a taxicab on a New Orleans backroad. The night is warm, the air smells of magnolias, and Bash is driving. CWs: discussion of death and dying, particularly car accidents.
Limit 4.

2. An evening in a graveyard in Boston. There is pizza and coffee and a spindly, skittish being. It is a new moon.
Limit 2

3. Dee and I have discussed a Jeff+Bash double-feature memory, of the day they met at a sexpo in Duplicity. CWs: the scene is set in a sexpo in Duplicity. Sexual coersion, spanking, enforced sexual dynamics, poorly negotiated kink. No muses under 18, please. Dee and I will discuss limits.

Security -
1. The kitchen of the habitat used by the PreservationAux survey team. It is cozy and comfortable and everyone’s at ease. Until they’re not.
Limit 3, Helena already has a spot

2. Murderbot wakes up to hear it’s been immobilized. Which is funny, it didn’t expect to wake up at all. CW: discussion of suicide may come up.
Limit 2

3. A bodyguard gig, in the time before its memory purge. Before it was rogue--have you ever wondered what it might be like if its governor module was active?
Limit 3

4. Did you miss the summer camp excursion? Here’s your chance to relive it. Specifically, the arts and crafts shed, where Murderbot is making a pipe cleaner bunny for Friday.
Limit 4

Nat's plans

[personal profile] tossmealifeline 2023-02-20 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty open to making plans with as many people as want them, I've also got as many memories as is desired, I'm sure.

I'll do the details per character but the basics:

Wednesday: Mostly benign memories, a lot of school life.
Demyx: Could do some silly, mission-type memories, on the lighthearted end. On the darker end, some memory fuckery, being trapped in a situation that's impossible to get out of. Potential death.
Yato: One hell of a walking trigger warning. Murder, child abuse, dismemberment. There are not a lot of good memories to draw upon. It can be done, but there's only a few.

Cassandra de Rolo

[personal profile] not_the_last 2023-02-20 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
I would love to share some of Cass's life with people she's becoming close to, but also with relative strangers and (perhaps ideally) with people who've had some conflict with her. While I don't want to get too specific before I know who wants what, these are the general types of memories I'm looking at:

1) Cassandra's childhood. This may not be exclusively pleasant memories, but nothing in it is going to be massively traumatic. Girl growing up in a castle, youngest of seven children, a fundamental baseline of stable and loving family. (Bonus: anyone who's back from a previous voyage, you might see someone you recognize.)

2) The Whitestone Massacre. The murder of most of Cassandra's family, and a good chunk of the rest of their household, by the 'visiting' Lord and Lady Briarwood and their followers, who subsequently take over the castle and the city. Includes Cassandra's rescue of her brother Percy and the two of them attempting escape, with mixed results.

3) The Briarwood Interregnum. Includes about two years in which Cassandra is being kept hidden by (and working with) the underground resistance in Whitestone, and about three years in which she is being held prisoner/guest/adopted-daughter by the Briarwoods and acting as a double agent. The latter part has the potential for some extremely dark and fucked-up content, both things Cassandra experiences directly and things she witnesses; if you're interested, let's discuss how dark you want it.

4) The Restoration. The defeat of the Briarwoods by Vox Machina (the adventuring party of which Cassandra's brother Percy is a member), and the ensuing period of about a year and a half in which Cassandra is ruling Whitestone with the aid of a council and beginning to gather her own household -- a head steward, personal guards, and so forth. This period culminates with another traumatic attack, which happens a matter of days or weeks before Cassandra is first brought to the Serena Eterna.

PLEASE NOTE: by far most of what happens in these memories is going to be headcanon. I'm probably going to be drawing extensively from two fics I've already written; please feel free to take a look at them and let me know if anything in there interests you.

Vance Hopper

[personal profile] pinballer 2023-02-20 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
(be advised both the basement prompts will come with pretty heavy warnings for child abuse)

Knife Fight at the Grab-N-Go: Vance is playing pinball at the local convenience store when another teen bumps the machine and makes him lose. A teenage knife fight ensues. You can interfere before or after the knife fight and it might not happen at all depending on what your character does! If it's after the knife fight you can also help him run from the cops.

This version of Vance is what he himself considers to be The Cool Vance untouched by trauma. He does in fact still have trauma no matter how much he denies it, and a lot of what he considers cool is just being a jerk but getting away with it because all of his opponents are other teenagers and he's the toughest teenager in town. My goal with this one is to hopefully get him to re-think the way he views his past self and see how much he's grown here, so he will almost definitely be a total asshole in this prompt (even if he likes you, he'll give off that impression of being a total asshole to most people).

Basement Horror (No Grabber Edition): Vance is trapped alone (or so he thinks) in a dark basement with nothing but an old mattress, a rotary phone on the wall, and a toilet down the single short hallway. The only window is very high up and covered with a grate, and the door is heavy and locked from the outside. He is scared out of his mind and very vulnerable and has already been injured a bit.

Anyone who can see ghosts will notice that there are two ghosts in the basement with him, Billy and Griffin. They're both small, shy kids and Vance can't see them. They'll be in the other basement prompt, too.

Basement Horror (Grabber Edition): Vance is still trapped in the basement but has decided he's had enough and has begun bashing through the wall in an attempt to escape. Unfortunately, the hole he makes hits a large freezer on the other side and The Grabber comes down to stop him before he can get around it.

This is the all-purposes "beat the shit out of The Grabber" prompt because he's a creep! Probably a limit of 3 or so threads for this one because it'll be the most intense of the prompts but hey if you want to come and save Vance from getting murdered now's your chance. The Grabber is just a regular adult human with no powers so most characters will stand a good chance. If you want him to kill your character that can be discussed too.

Ari Tayrey

[personal profile] astrogator 2023-02-20 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
I'm planning to write a custom prompt/scene for anyone who wants one, so - please let me know here as I likely won't have any general open threads, but there's a lot of scope for customising this towards what you/your character are most interested in.

If Ari has mentioned a particular person, issue or event to them and you want to explore that, let me know! Otherwise, some broader ideas:

Cardalek:
- chat with a very young and precocious Ari at a Company event.
- see how little Ari is treated by her family - her caring but distant adoptive father, and/or the mess that is the Carrington branch.
- overhear her and her best friend planning to run off to the Tradelines together and learn exactly what her problems with Cardalek were.

Space Stations:
- the incident where Ari is attacked for being a Tradeliner and shoots someone (hear anti-Tradeline arguments here!)
- Ari's first trip downstation after she qualifies. Meet her friends and celebrate, or explore the station and talk to other NPCs. (cw: 16-year-old Ari gets drunk and has sex with a stranger; this isn't only accepted but a cultural expectation. This will not be part of the memory but will likely come up in conversation.)

Space!
- stowaway Ari hiding in the laundry room and then negotiating with the captain
- her first L-space experience (cw for anything L-space: characters will experience extreme perceptual distortions, probable nausea, possible hallucinations. There are colors not found in normal space, the geometry is all wrong, it's quite Lovecraftian.) Her mentor Leah Savitskaya will be there, but it's also possible to have a later L-space memory where Ari's older and she can support your character through it instead.
- Ari's solo L-space test. This test is incredibly dangerous and failure means death. It takes place on an old, small spacecraft, and she may think she is hallucinating your character.
- a space battle! Help fight some pirates. Ari may be flying the ship, or working on emergency repairs. (cw: death, injury, characters fearing that defeat means torture and enslavement) Pirates don't board Ari's ship in any of her memories, but it's possible if changes are made, so there's potential for your character to get involved in a fight instead of just watching starships fire at each other. This might work well as a group thread if there's interest.
- a simulation! To really mess with their heads. A memory of young Ari in command of a ship, having to handle several problems at once - and then the simulation ending and the memory switching to the actual ship.
- something less intense! Just chat with Ari and her shipmates, tour the ship, see her culture and the life she longs to go back to first-hand.

For all scenarios I'm open to the original outcome being changed - for better or worse.

I've got three ideas and they're all pretty nebulous and open-ended. I'd like to thread 'em, but it's possible I won't have the energy to do full threads, we'll see when we get there.

An Omnic Crisis Battle: Human army vs robot army trying to kill each other somewhere in southern Germany. Adult-sized humans will be assumed to be fighting on the side of the human army if the omnics notice them; animals, small children, and nonhumans whose body shape or heat signature rule out humans in disguises are sufficiently low-priority targets that they'll be ignored unless there are no plausible human combatants left alive or they attack an omnic in a way that could actually damage them.

Wandering around in the Black Forest with all the dead Bastion units and also Ganymede is there: A melancholy day in the life set sometime after The Last Bastion, so the mid-2060s or so. Memory Bastion will be more jittery than they are now but will not immediately shoot human visitors. Also you can meet their bird friend!

I might do a third one that takes place during the first part of their comic with Torbjörn, where they walk out of the sea one night and spook some Swedish teenagers, maybe carrying over to people fearfully watching them from a distance the next morning. Playing out the entire comic doesn't really interest me though so I'd probably end the memory at that point.

(This is not the only memory on offer, it's just the most cohesive idea I have so far; I'm also thinking of throwing in something set in Shipwrecked, something set in Hamlet, and something to do with the Nightmare Throne, but those aren't very... specific... at the moment)
Anyone want to join in on a boss fight against the Deerclops or the Ancient Fuelweaver? You can meet Wilson's canonmates* and see them die and get resurrected repeatedly! Especially in the Fuelweaver one, as he's a much tougher fight. It'll be winter for the Deerclops fight, and could be any season except winter but most likely summer for Fuelweaver because he can only be summoned deep underground and that's a good place to beat the heat.
I may also offer a plain old day-in-the-life DST option where nothing horrible is happening. Or combine it with the Deerclops or Fuelweaver fight by having the regular day be before or after the fight.

*except Walter and Wurt since they arrived later; Wanda was also not implemented at Wilson's canon point of 'the exact day Return of Them started', but she's a time traveller so she might be present anyway.

Natsuno plotting

[personal profile] neverleave 2023-02-20 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly brainstorming for ideas and trying to figure what people might be interested in. All his memories have a lot of potential for characters to change things, which I really want to play with him! Things are already messed up due to regains and death tax and I want to mess it up even more.

Potential memories:
- Vampire investigation: join Natsuno and two other kids as they desecrate graves and make themselves a target.

- Vampire attacks: basically the consequences of being a meddling kid. Natsuno was attacked and fed on 3 times (3rd time turned him) and your character can appear during either.

- Vampire tea party: that one time the villain's right hand man came to threaten Natsuno and tell him to join the other vampires or else. Bonus: meet Natsuno's dad. At this point he's lost his mind, so 50-50 on whether he stabs you or offers you a drink. Also Natsuno can't remember his face due to death tax, so he'll look like a creepy blur.

- Saving friends from vampires: the time he murdered someone to save another meddling kid and snuck him outside the village. Memory!Natsuno will be extra hostile on this one.

- Vampire genocide: the final days. Violence, fire, gore and high chance of dying in this one because the villagers will attack on sight. Natsuno ends up blowing himself up.

Plot with Rita!

[personal profile] myagic 2023-02-20 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
There are lots of options for Rita, especially since I have her novel backstory to draw from! If you're canonblind and/or unsure what specific memory you want, we can talk about Vibes--there's many possibilities! I'll put a few examples below, and feel free to discuss details or ask if there's something else you might be interested in.

Do you want some Rita backstory that explains her poor socialization? A running theme after her mama passes away is jealousy/resentment towards her for her intelligence, from everyone including the other kids and adult researchers to her surrogate mom figure. Some options:
-the children's room at the research facility where Rita (~6 or 7 here) gets in a fight with the others
-the big betrayal by her not-mom Marget who, out of a couple years' worth of brewing envy and resentment, plagiarizes a 9yo-Rita's work so she can get a promotion and move to a different city. Rita swears off ever trusting people again after this :( She's also never discussed it with anyone, which is an opportunity I'd love--sail-Rita could even potentially enter this one with another character so she can explain the context.
-anytime between the ages of 10-15 where she works as a mage, single-minded in her research and focus on magitech, while temperamental and untrusting of basically anyone, and will tell people to get lost. Other mages tend to fear her temper and/or dismiss her based on her age.

And then it's everything Estelle when Rita meets the person who will become her first ever real crush friend. Some options:
-Yuri & co. break into Rita's house in a case of mistaken identity. Bonus: see the gloomy cavern-city and the messy shack where Rita lives.
-Heliord blastia explosion. Rita nearly dies when she rushes in to stop some out-of-control magitech, and Estelle saves her. Bonus: Yuri and Flynn are both there, for characters who remember them! Bonus #2: aftermath where Estelle refuses to leave Rita's bedside. This one could be interesting if a character wanted to try intervening, since if Rita doesn't fix the blastia, everything goes boom and anyone in the vicinity will die...
-Rita finally calls her Estelle instead of Estellise. Easily a conversation overheard in public.

If you want some one-on-one time between your character and Rita for misadventures or cool JRPG locales:
-pre-game, Rita is known to enter dangerous trap-filled and monster-infested ruins alone
-at one point, Rita travels alone back to Heliord (again, through monster-infested wilderness). Once she arrives, she sees knights sneaking in some weaponry and snoops around to investigate--eventually discovering a forced labour camp, but then she gets caught and imprisoned. Room for shenanigens!
-enter a memory that's just her existing in a neat place! Like a city floating in the sky or a town around a giant, blossoming tree

Palamedes Sextus

WELCOME TO CAANAN HOUSE, the only best accommodation in the post-apocalyptic antipodes! Beachfront property! Great views! Historical touches! Full-service dining options staffed by friendly skeletons! Newly renovated pool and gym! The hungry ghosts probably won’t kill you, but the murderer on the loose might!

I’m planning on making three different memories available to folks who want to do the memloss thing with Pal. All come from the events of Gideon the Ninth. Two are pretty interactive, one isn’t, but is a good chance to learn something about Pal that he hasn’t really told anyone, if you’re into that kind of thing.

The arms look like swords and I want to fight it: At Canaan House, there are a series of laboratories that include trials or puzzles meant to test some form of necromancy. For this memory, you’ll get to help Pal (and Camilla) solve the Transference/Winnowing trial, which basically involves fighting a skeleton monster. There is some other stuff, but the skeleton monster is the important bit.

Murder Most Foul: Two of the visitors to Canaan House show up dead under mysterious circumstances! Help Pal and the others investigate the crime scene. Technically, this scene involves just about every character in GtN, so it’s a fun chance to interact with some of the others, if you’re into that.

A God-killing star: Watch Pal die. :( This one is non-interactive; you’ll be stuck in the hallway outside the room where it happens. But you will get to hear the novel’s Big Bad give a speech about why they murdered a bunch of people, and listen to Pal tell them how much they suck.

I may come up with some other ideas later, but these are the most concrete ones I have so far. Happy to talk further if anything strikes your fancy!
