Handwaved CR Meme

The passengers have been living on this ship for a while now, and it's likely that they've fallen into certain habits and routines. Little things have become part of their day, from lunch dates with friends, to quiet nights in the library, or long-standing blood feuds. Even the newest passengers have likely found themselves some common haunts and familiar faces. This is a meme to talk about, flesh out, and collaborate on some of those behind-the-scenes moments and routines!

1. Post a comment with your character's name & cabin number in the header, and give us an idea of what sort of things they get up to around the ship! Be as detailed or as vague as you'd like.
2. Talk about what kind of handwaved CR you can inspire! Is your character the type to stop and chat with friends on the promenade? Are they consistently the highest score on multiple arcade cabinets? IDK, you tell me!
3. When you look at other characters' routines, you might notice some moments that line up! Even if your characters are total strangers, they might see each other at the buffet every day, or maybe they're unwittingly competing for the high score on DDR. And close CR might mean weekly dinners, book clubs, sparring sessions every morning... like I said, this is where you shine!!
4. This is also a good chance to handwave characters exchanging contact information, generating some more inbox threads!

TLDR: write about your character's life on the ship and then compare notes with other people, find CR, ???, profit

Oh yes! Space club! I'm looking forward to all this too and I'm glad they'll get past their disaster of a first meeting.

Although after their first positive handwave interaction Clarke's totally going to get a friendly little greeting from Ari when they pass in the corridors. Little nod and 'Commander.' Sorry Clarke.

I think it's likely that Ari and Bastion would eventually run into each other in their patrol-wandering, but that might actually be thread material? Since Bastion stands out so much from the human passengers.

We threaded their first meeting, but since Bastion keeps trying to figure out the layout of the Tommy Bahama (I'm not sure if the near portions are consistent and there's just always more to map, or if it shuffles around and requires them to re-map even the areas within a short walk of the entrance) they'd keep running into Siffleur there. Hi Siffleur!

They're not going to participate in the murder game and they don't want to hear about the results, but they do understand the logic (everyone involved needs enrichment in their enclosure and can't permanently die + Siffleur likes hunting and eating people + other passengers like petting animals) and consider it a step up from hunting people who didn't agree and don't get to pet him if they survive.

Blue military associate...! Hey, definitely enough to earn a reciprocating polite nod from a distance at the very least. There could definitely have been some eye contact in this vein during intersecting patrol hours or gym/sports deck ventures!

Actually this does remind me I've been meaning to tag Ari somewhere or somehow...! There actually aren't a lot of fellow proper military folks around here, and so Jade's always more inclined to get to know the few that are. Never know when such associations might come in handy for the semi-monthly disasters that go down around here smh...iirc you had an open log up for her earlier this month, right? OH and an open thread during the Price Is Right Game I think...I might hit up one of those two things soon, if it's not too late/if you have a preference for one or the other! We could say they've spotted each other a couple times by now but haven't actually properly spoken yet, get some proper introductions going?!

Noticing humans being sneaky was a survival skill for Bastion early in life and they've held onto the habit of paying attention as best they can to who's in their presence (to the point of unhealthy neuroticism), so I think they would have seen Cassandra sneaking around at least once, but if she's a skilled sneaker she could have successfully snuck past them at least once as well. They're hypervigilant but their senses aren't dramatically more acute than a human's beyond having access to zoom and thermal imaging. If they noticed her, they wouldn't make it obvious by waving or staring or flinching, but she might notice them keeping her in view of their main optic or subtly moving out of her line of sight.

Yes, I'd love that! It's definitely not too late to tag in, and either would work. During the Price is Right game, or if you choose her open log, take the wildcard option and set it afterwards? Maybe he decides to talk to her after having seen her win the Grand Prize? :)

Gideon Nav, Cabin 121

Having arrived the day after the Halloween party, Gideon has spent most of her time wandering around the ship being baffled and overwhelmed by how bright this place is and how many amenities it has.

Gideon can often be found at any and every location that serves food on the ship, but especially at Scoops where she is trying every single flavour of ice cream and candy - even the ill-advised ones. She is also very often going methodically through the Windjammer and trying every single item there as well. Find her cracking open those infinite crab legs and eating entirely too many chicken wings.

When not eating food, she can also be found at the Calgona. She's not entirely familiar with all the equipment but she's found the weights and that's all she really needs. Gideon is here to work her upper body and her upper body alone. Everyone knows that muscles run downhill and the legs will sort themselves out.

Gideon also spends a lot of time simply walking around and gawking at things, or trying out items she's never seen before. If you run across her at the arcade or on the pool deck, she might try play it cool and pretend she knows what she's doing.

Through early November, she has mostly been wearing black and her skull paint. But as time has passed, you're more likely to see her sans facepaint and wearing an extensive array of hawaiian shirts from Tommy Bahamas. The two-handed broadsword still hangs out on her back at all times, but she has jazzed up the pommel a little by wrapping it in a a hot pink and green scarf.

She can also be found in the library either pestering Palamedes or looking for more reading material. Preferably stuff that doesn't have necromancers in it (she's trying to expand her horizons) but also has some absolutely banging sex scenes (she's not expanding her horizons that much).

Finally, you can regularly find Gideon passed out in her cabin, sleeping through the night and enjoying her freedom.

Gideon has probably seen Daisy at the gym and very openly flirted with her while they're both working out. But having seen the claws used on the punching bag, she's settled for working out alongside Daisy rather than trying to convince her to spar (for the moment anyway).

Gideon's ended up working out near Ari a few times and she's probably eyed up the obvious space military uniform and asked a few questions to figure out if the military Ari's from is anything like the space military Gideon was planning to join.

Congrats dear sweet SexPal, you now have a Gideon to show up and bother you in the library, and also find you in the Sand Dollar to find out what the latest is.

Gideon has taken to joining Clarke now and then when she spots her eating at the Sand Dollar or the Windjammer. If Clarke looks too distracted, she'll give her some space. But if she looks open to company, Gideon will settle in with food and ask her some questions about things Gideon's seen around the ship that she needs an explanation for. After all, anyone who is close enough to Palamedes to be... whatever he and Clarke are to each other is someone she can probably trust to not laugh at her if she asks what the hell the big rectangles on the sports deck are.

Gideon regularly seeks out Cassandra if they're eating at the same place and likes to join her for a conversation if she looks open to it. She's probably still trying to pretend she's not new but it's become incredibly obvious by now that Gideon is both new and surprised by a lot of the things on the ship.

They've probably talked a good bit by now, then -- Cassandra is quietly pleased at being sought out, I think.

What kinds of things would you say Gideon seems surprised by? I'm wondering if any of it might align with the things Cassandra's not familiar with. (The variety of the food is one thing I'd guess.)

I'll take it a strong further and say that, while Clarke is usually very anti-unintended company, she would probably go out of her way to talk to Gideon when approached. nicely, even; no laughter about amenity questions and probably very careful to phrase answers with like, "I didn't know what that was either..." or "still not 100% sure but I've gathered..." sort of answers, so Gideon doesn't feel left out or dumb.

I feel like Jade has learned the timing of Skulduggery's karaoke sessions at this point...he probably drops by to popcorn the singing and/or commentate on the song selection with him sometimes! Wouldn't usually be in the mood for much singing himself but maybe Skuls has very occasionally managed to strongarm Jade into it here and there by now lmao

Also I actually don't remember if I've had Jade witness Skulduggery flying in a thread yet?? If not we can probably assume he's seen it by this time though, since that seems to be another routine of Skully's! Jade's probably picked up/learned that he's checking out the barrier at the least by now, and likely hangs out by the rail on the main deck sometimes to watch his progress/ask if anything's changed when he gets done with his circuit out there

Oh the lil blood samples in the infirmary wrt death experiments do remind me that Jade has died a couple times by now, and probably noticed/asked about these tests Pal has been running some time ago as well! If you want we could handwave that Jade agreed to offer over a blood sample of his own way back after the first death in the battle royale, if you think Pal might have requested as much at that time? He'd be down to provide a second sample at some point too, considering his...second death now haha rip, though actually maybe we'd want to thread that to dovetail it into that eventual mutual-lab-nerding session we wanna do sometime...!

Fio | Room 116

(Fio's routines on the first handwaved CR meme. If you've replied to it, I'd say most of it hasn't changed unless the handwaved parts take place late at night and if there's any changes from your character that I should know about.)

■ The biggest change since the Halloween event is that Fio can no longer be found wandering around late at night regardless of whether or not she experiences a nightmare. There may be rare events that she ventures outside late, but not without asking for the company of close CR.

■ Her usual everyday wear is a black jumper dress with a white blouse and dresses of a similar fashion from the diner event. Someday canon will design a cute, new simple white dress for her. She always wears a capacity core attached to her left wrist, given to her by Jade. And a friendship bracelet from Darcy.

Her old dress, collar and manacles that's shown in a lot of her icons have long since been hidden away somewhere in her cabin, around the second day she was a passenger way back in March. (The only people in the entire ship who have seen her in her old clothes are probably Jade and Friday...)

■ Almost always accompanied by a teddy bear named Judith and a dragon named Calcite. They seem to be magical. It's some sort of memory world magical bullshit that I don't know how to explain because her canon is vague like that. Sometimes they are floating. Sometimes they are not floating and are set aside like normal toys. Both are sometimes present. Sometimes it's one. They alternate every now and then.

On some days, she may bring around with her a princess doll ("Princess Pink"), a gift from Rita, and a colorful plush dragon ("Penelope") from Darcy. These two do not float but they might sometimes be found sitting around nearby!

■ Judith the bear was heavily mangled during the Halloween event, but was repaired through the efforts of Vance and friends! Feel free to notice the bear's new, beautiful rainbow stitches.

■ Mostly found around the ship during the morning, daytime, and early evening. She gets ready for bedtime around 8PM or 9PM.

■ Feel free to say you've sometimes seen the tiny child walking around while holding Skulduggery's hand with zero fear.

■ She usually abides by a set schedule for breakfast and dinner, because she tries to be a good little girl that eats all her meals and gets in all her hours of sleep. She wakes up in the morning for breakfast. Lunchtimes vary. Around 6PM, she has dinner at Windjammer together with Ava, Number 6, and Undine.

She's a very friendly child, so she may happily greet your character "Good morning!" in the hallway and tell them, "Good night!" on the way back to her cabin.

■ Occasionally, she can be heard humming to herself some of the tunes that Skulduggery hummed to her when helping lull her to sleep on some nights. She hums more upbeat versions in the daytime when she's in a better mood. After Venti introduced her to the aranara during the beach excursion, she might also be found singing their songs!

■ In the library, she reads children's picture books or may be found drawing. She likes most stories, as long as they have happy endings. If not the library, she can also be found sitting at Sand Dollars with a mug of hot cocoa. When she isn't drawing or reading, she may be working on making 1000 cranes since Natsuno taught and told her that it'll grant a wish! Her project to wish for everyone's happiness will probably be finished by next year...

■ If not at her usual haunts, she can be found playing imaginary games (like pretending to be an explorer, adventurer in a ruin, etc.) around the upper decks and busier areas.

■ Found at least twice a week in the gym or the sports deck. Sometimes she's training in self-defense with Ava. Sometimes she's practicing boxing and ballet with the Dioscuri.

...Probably things I'm forgetting but I suppose these are the most important details!

Since they met the once, I think Cassandra would make a point of saying hello to her in the library and seeing if she's all right. Not in the "you are now my responsibility" sort of way, more just trying to be a good neighbor.

If opportunity arises I'd love to thread with the two of them again!

(... And once I get Nepeta into this I would love to have her encounter Fio while playing imaginary games, but that's for later. <.<)

This will absolutely delight him at first, but I'm sure that at some point he will start to sigh and roll his eyes whenever she interrupts him. In a loving way.

Also, Gideon Nav now has a subscription to Palamedes Sextus' Top Nerd Facts. Aka, she will be getting random texts from him with mostly-useless 'fun' facts on a regular basis.
