friends, as applications permanently close and we get our asses into gear for end game, we will have one final activity check! no activity needed; just comment to this post to let me know you're still alive and ready to fuck some shit up. anyone who doesn't reply to this post by monday, the 5th, will be removed from the game.

also, a note: my cleanup of the idlers will likely result in cabin assignments being jostled around. this is For Reasons.

starting in August, a new form of player plot will become available for use.

the basic gist is this: while Jenny may have been the first passenger to earn “freedom,” she was not the first passenger to leave the confines of the ship. in the past, passengers have been able to trade their confinement for another by committing a heinous act. their prize: becoming caretakers of one of the Captain’s pocket dimensions, given near-complete control of it in exchange for taking on the duty of powering it themselves. (these dimensions are run similarly to Jenny’s ship, with a central nganga of sorts as a battery that one feeds with fear and death.)

what does this mean for you? it means that you can now sign up to take a spin at being the Captain, playing whatever character you would like. that character will have been a former passenger on a past voyage (if you need a little nudge to make that character be open to running a hell dimension). there will be a submission page that anyone can submit their proposal to, and I’ll start to sprinkle them throughout excursions.

note that when I say “anyone,” I do mean everyone. this experience is not limited to current, or even former, players at Come Sail Away. people who have never been in the game can run an event as a guest NPC, providing that they can find a current member, or a former member of good standing, to vouch for their coolness.

The events of the Labyrinth event have caused the following game mechanic changes:

DEATH MECHANIC CHANGES: Revival will take three days. All non-excursion deaths will require a stupidity tax.

The ship will only repair minor damage (i.e. anything less than a hull breach) once a month.

- There will be a new OOC post for tracking this monthly damage; it will be available through the nav page.

-- There will also be a new NPC contact post, as we are about one skulcap thread away from captcha.

The cabins will no longer be cleaned. Public areas are cleaned every other day.

Food in the Windjammer will be replenished weekly. All other food serving locations will replenish themselves sporadically and seemingly randomly. Meals in the dining room are now a matter of chance.

Liquor stores are replenished monthly, as are cigars. The Infinite Tommy Bahama remains infinite.

There is now a kitchen. It is attached to the main dining room, but the food served there does not seem to come from it. It is a full-sized industrial kitchen, but only has the most basic food stuffs available, supplies of which are replenished weekly.

Jenny and her brothers are no longer passengers on the ship.

- I will write their reunion and leaving. eventually. you know how I am.

- As such, the bars the brothers were bound to have reverted to their previous names: Bobby B’s (Tauva), Stan the Man (Hurikane), and Rainbow Renly (Rischie).

Sparkles lives in the walls.

The game info pages will be receiving a long overdue update to reflect these changes, as well as others made since the start of the game. There will also be a fresh TDM made, and apps will reopen. eventually. you know how I am.

ALSO, just to be safe, May will also be a “no AC unless you want regains” month. enjoy.

hello, passengers! your friendly mod here with a quick announcement regarding activity: starting with July, the three threads option for monthly AC has been increased from three 5+ comments from your character (a 10+ minimum comment thread) to three 10+ comments from your character (a 20+ minimum comment thread).

as may be obvious from how poorly I edited things, this was the original activity requirement for this game. though I changed it physically, I never actually stopped thinking of AC threads as needing 20 comments, which has led to a lot of confusion. thus, for the sake of my own sanity, I am changing it back to the way it was.

three 20+ comment threads may sound like a lot - and it's meant to be! my AC system is designed to incentivize the creation of open top-levels and posts, which force you to open yourself to interaction with everyone, instead of just those you choose to interact with. and you guys have been doing really good with that, btw.
