Handwaved CR Meme

The passengers have been living on this ship for a while now, and it's likely that they've fallen into certain habits and routines. Little things have become part of their day, from lunch dates with friends, to quiet nights in the library, or long-standing blood feuds. Even the newest passengers have likely found themselves some common haunts and familiar faces. This is a meme to talk about, flesh out, and collaborate on some of those behind-the-scenes moments and routines!

1. Post a comment with your character, and give us an idea of what sort of things they get up to around the ship! Be as detailed or as vague as you'd like.
2. Talk about what kind of handwaved CR you can inspire! Is your character the type to stop and chat with friends on the promenade? Are they consistently the highest score on multiple arcade cabinets? IDK, you tell me!
3. When you look at other characters' routines, you might notice some moments that line up! Even if your characters are total strangers, they might see each other at the buffet every day, or maybe they're unwittingly competing for the high score on DDR. And close CR might mean weekly dinners, book clubs, sparring sessions every morning... like I said, this is where you shine!!
4. This is also a good chance to handwave characters exchanging contact information, generating some more inbox threads!

TLDR: write about your character's life on the ship and then compare notes with other people, find CR, ???, profit

Anyway, piano time in John's? Johnny hasn't played piano since he was 16, and he has...feelings...about it, but he's been noodling around.

Also, pool time with Undine has happened at least a couple times. Perhaps complete with gushing fondly about their partners.

...okay, but I imagine MB when talking in what is not quite the feed uses Bastion's unique identifier like it'd use a feed address.

Also, human!Bash does have superhuman sneaking skills, and has at least once run afoul of Bastion accidentally. He's since learned to approach very openly and stop shadow-slinking around them.

Also, considering some of the drones have speakers, one may have sang back, playing music from the Corporate Rim in MB's universe.

(But MB itself will never do so in person. Ever. It is srs bsns.)

There's a few weird things about her life that'll start to slip the more they talk. But some of those might be best threaded. Still...
- She has never left the city she was born in. As far as she knows, no one has
- Magical girls fight monsters every night, 10pm-2am
- She goes to a school only for magical girls
- She's been fighting monsters since she was 12 (she's 15 now)

April Caouette, Room 128

In general:
April has collected and/or exchanged numbers with people they didn't hate talking to, or who they find funny to watch. This is a wobbly definition, and they're not above just letting themselves get added to a contact list and then just ghost the person. It's entirely possible you have a new contact in your list that you don't remember adding. If you're supernaturally inclined enough for other supernatural beings to sense, April's probably doing their best to avoid your notice.

Photos at Sea:
So important I'm bringing it up here, but since April's arrived, some of the photos at Photos at Sea are looking kind of... Funny.
For the most part, the figure that's April is just out of focus or motion-blurred, perfectly normal not-creepy explanations for not seeing their face. And while they don't wear the same outfit every day, they almost always have green somewhere on their outfit, and that might be pattern enough for someone to notice by the end of the month that it might just be one particular person who's never in focus or fully in the frame. Weird.
But those might not stand out as much as the odd photo here and there that looks absolutely cursed, and while there's a few in dim hallways and corners of the promenade, most are in an otherwise mundane setting like, say, the bars, Mikabo, and Sand Dollars. These effects range from just seeing a face where there shouldn't be one in the shadows or corners of the image, to spooky overexposed floating ghost heads, to some mild Thatcher effect on some of the faces. Not exclusively 'April's', either.
(Incidentally, a lot of these pictures feature theotherright, too. How strange!)

These photos are just ordinarily creepy, though they might take just a little bit longer to be dismissed from a character's mind than your standard photoshopped spooky image... But certain people might find some pictures harder to dismiss than others. If you'd like your character to feel worse and/or sign up to be targeted specifically, check out April's Opt-In over here.

First half of September:
April spent most of their time around the bars, especially the Pool Bar and Hurikane for the fun and expensive cocktails. They also popped into Mikabo for the fun and free sushi, and Sand Dollars in the mornings for pastries and good coffee/tea.

- They were uncharacteristically friendly at the bars, chatting about how nice the drinks are or about enjoying their time off, but they didn't make a huge effort to stick in people's minds.
- Trying to remember a conversation you just had with April is like trying to remember what a cashier said to you a month ago. Trying to remember April themselves feels like that too, unless they decided they wanted to stick in your mind, which mostly just means theotherright at the moment unless we discussed otherwise!

Never Have I Ever:
April set up the game, but sure didn't take any hosting responsibilities, happy to let it descend into chaos. Unfortunately for them, they were also happy to drink and commentate, which meant more interaction, more chances to be seen, more little bits of context for people to remember them with.

- Anyone thinking about it will at least be able to remember that the first person at the game, presumably the host, was someone in a green Hawaiian shirt with a drink in their hand.
- Anyone who attended Never Have I Ever will feel like they met April somewhere before. Which, uh, is technically true, yeah, but the important part is that instead of the vague memory of talking to someone near the bar, there's now a time and place for people to grab as an answer to 'where have I seen this person before?', whether or not it's true.

Post Event:
April is not at the bars as much anymore - they still pop in for a drink some evenings, but they don't constantly have a drink in hand anymore. No, they did NOT drink too much at the party, shut up. They pop into the other restaurants and the dining room for a meal now and then, though they sit by themselves and out of the way. They also can be spotted leaning on the rail on any given deck, especially the upper ones, and on the edges of wherever seems to be a popular location for the ship population. They're still relying on being forgettable to avoid commitment to people they don't care about, but unfortunately being seen by a consistent group of people for this long with an answer to 'where did I see this person before?' means that they're starting to be memorable, at least to a 'hey, it's you!' level.

Anyone else supernatural is probably able to sniff out that something's kind of off about April, too.

Some nights they can be found in the library, or various retail stores, but very briefly and with cryptid powers on full because they hate it when people ask them if they need help when they're clearly browsing.

That's more or less what April has been doing, basically the later in the month it is the more likely you are to bump into April and remember you had a conversation with someone, I kind of strayed off topic.

Yesss! Excited to have Fio slowly get into fighting form... and performance ready of course. We can assume the boxing stuff happens the same days she shows up to do some ballet once a week. Oh yeah, if you find threadhopping opportunities in any of my threads in the future, the Dioscuri are free to do so!

Jack Wynand, Room 142

Phone numbers: Jack is new to having cell phones, so it doesn't occur to him to trade contact information at first until other people start asking him about it. If you thread with him after the September event and it seemed like a nice interaction, then it's likely he would have asked to trade contact information - unless your character asked first, which he'll always agree to.
Incidentally, he texts like an old man, proper spelling and punctuation and weird ellipses choices... god help everyone when/if he discovers emojis.

Routine:
Jack is a simple guy with simple needs. He eats at the buffet for most of his meals, but has also eaten at his assigned table in the dining area and in Drunken Sailor a few times.

He tends to avoid the casino and Tauva because - well, he's not allowed, but also because he's had too many bad experiences in casinos and cigar smoke puts him on edge for some reason.

When he's not eating, he's either enjoying a leisurely stroll around the ship, trying out the games in Playback, or reading in Sand Dollars, the lounge, or up on the poolside deck.

Of course, those books come from somewhere - he's sometimes spotted picking out or returning the oldest, dumbest, and/or trashiest spec fic you can find in the library.

A few times a week, he just lies on a deck chair poolside and falls asleep. Frequently, there's evidence that he meant to be reading under the sun, oops.

He swims now and then too, but always with a shirt on, same when he sits in the hot tub now and then.

He's also one of those guys who likes to lean against the rails of the ship at night and look out at the sky or the ocean and think about things. Sometimes he has an unlit cigarette for the feel of it.

Post event, he does the outside lounging with a drink now and then (thank you salamanders and Never Have I Ever leftovers).

He's generally friendly enough to smile and continue some small talk, but he doesn't initiate himself often.
