Handwaved CR Meme

The passengers have been living on this ship for a while now, and it's likely that they've fallen into certain habits and routines. Little things have become part of their day, from lunch dates with friends, to quiet nights in the library, or long-standing blood feuds. Even the newest passengers have likely found themselves some common haunts and familiar faces. This is a meme to talk about, flesh out, and collaborate on some of those behind-the-scenes moments and routines!

1. Post a comment with your character, and give us an idea of what sort of things they get up to around the ship! Be as detailed or as vague as you'd like.
2. Talk about what kind of handwaved CR you can inspire! Is your character the type to stop and chat with friends on the promenade? Are they consistently the highest score on multiple arcade cabinets? IDK, you tell me!
3. When you look at other characters' routines, you might notice some moments that line up! Even if your characters are total strangers, they might see each other at the buffet every day, or maybe they're unwittingly competing for the high score on DDR. And close CR might mean weekly dinners, book clubs, sparring sessions every morning... like I said, this is where you shine!!
4. This is also a good chance to handwave characters exchanging contact information, generating some more inbox threads!

TLDR: write about your character's life on the ship and then compare notes with other people, find CR, ???, profit

John Crichton | Room 127

- If you give him long enough, he WILL think of a nickname for you and use it interchangeably with your name forever. The more you resist, the more it will happen. Also, he spouts movie quotes and pop-culture references like it's going out of style.

- Never misses meal times at the buffet. He's going back for seconds and thirds and no one can stop him. He's always quick with a smile and a wave at the open seats next to him. Company is always welcome.

- He keeps a general fitness routine going. Every morning you can spot him running laps around the upper deck, and then doing general strength training like push-ups and sit-ups on a yoga mat after.

- His clothing choices alternate between leather on leather and more relaxed selections from the Tommy Bahama. He favors the color blue and tropical prints that remind him of home. No matter what he's wearing, he will always have a pulse pistol strapped to his right thigh in a holster. It's name is "Winona."

- [cw: drugs/addiction/alcohol] Crichton is going through withdrawal right now from an alien substance he had been using to numb his emotional pain over a whole lot of things. He's being very private about that aspect, but observant people could notice he's in the bars taking shots a lot more often than is probably healthy (especially late at night) and in moments of higher stress he is visibly jittery and easily irritated.

- For everyone's general knowledge, this boy has a fine ass and he is accepting compliments on it at all times. [slightly NSFW] you'd want to touch it too

- He can tend to keep late hours, so some may spot his regularly up past midnight looking out over the railing at the "stars" with a marked expression of frustration

- He gets really cagey if anyone suggest doing any medical scans on him (especially his head) and is generally very paranoid about things that have to do with mind-reading and manipulation.

- IDK what else; he's new here. He's probably got his hands full babysitting his roommate Arthur :P

Sharkey yes lmfao. I love every part of this. They need to have a thread sometime where Nobunaga slowly accepts putting his armor and swords and gun nearby and trying out the hot tub. And then maybe he can be convinced to stash them safely out of steam and try a sauna. WILD.

Also the first time Sharky brings the boombox to the buffet a time Nobunaga is there, he's gonna get PESTERED with "what's this. What's the song? Who sings it?" etc.

Sharkey's probably one of the few who chills Nobunaga out... which is so messed up since their main thread has been "yeah fuck cultists" but yolo.

Number 6 (AKA Peter Smith) | Room 113

- Peter Smith is not his true name, but it IS what he ha always introduced himself as while here.

- He has an early morning fitness routine you could set your watch to. Aerobic jogging first, then boxing on the punching bag, then he finishes by doing fencing drills on the sport deck. He is always open to friendly duels. He does insist on wearing proper fencing masks for safety.

- His eating schedule is fairly rigid as well. He takes a light breakfast in the windjammer most mornings with coffee (gasp!) and toast with eggs. He usually lunches at the Windjammer or sometimes he has fish and chips at the Drunken Sailor. And then he'll take tea at Sand Dollar mid-afternoon (RIP his routine in October). Then he will go to the dining room for his evening meal. Often, late at night, he will finish off the day with a nightcap at one of the bars. It's very rare to see him eating anything too sweet, however.

- He very obviously has a hard time staying still or idle, so it's easy to find him pacing the decks, or pacing the library looking for something to read, or trying to calm himself with a game of cards at the casino. He's also got a penchant for sketching people and places around the ship on a sketch pad. Whatever he's doing, he always looks restless. When he's not stuffing his hands in his pockets to conceal it, his fingers are always twiddling or twitching with spillover of all that pent-up energy.

- He generally dresses in some form of suit or business clothing. He likes to look sharp. And his hairstyle is the same boring side-combover every single day. He's a creature of habit.

- He often has trouble sleeping, so he's probably been seen pacing the deck at late hours too, sometimes with a drink in hand.

- He's an occasional smoker who favors cigars now (because his doctor advised him to give up cigarettes for his health) so he can sometimes be found in Tauva with one in hand, often looking very deeply lost in thought.

- He gets noticeably upset any time someone talks about having numbers for names but he won't say why. He generally does not seem to like to talk about himself or his past.

After 1920 is not too much of a problem. He’s got books for Brubeck and Monk, but like… most of what he has is various major composers between the Impressionist and Classical periods. Tchaik and Mahler and Schubert, the works. Can’t beat the best.

Nobunaga is trying to master the plastic gun games so they've almost definitely seen each other. If not at the arcade - John's, though Nobunaga has a pretty short attention span so he probably yeets out a lot. AND

Mikabo! Whenever Nobunaga gets fed up with trying new things, he goes to sushi and hibachi because yanno. Home. But he's USUALLY pretty good at not pestering loners if they don't spark his interest. /o/

Oh, Mizuki isn't much of a loner! He very much attaches himself to people and tries to be a social butterfly. Social jellyfish? Hm.

Nobunaga will definitely join Crichton for buffet meals like stupidly often. He's not used to eating alone, and never will be. EVEN IF they manage the whole thing without talking, he'll just be like "THIS IS MY FRIAND"

In terms of every day appearances, you're likely to find them wandering around in their Heroic Spirit Tour outfits. Because they're cute.

Even if you run into one of them alone, the other is absolutely liable to just Suddenly Appear next to them. Typically if you find one of them separate from the other, it's probably safer to assume the other is with them in Spirit Form than that they're actually alone. Please feel free to reply to either of our permissions posts if you want to give blanket permission or opt-out across the board for thread-hopping.

If you text Pollux, you're liable to get a reply from either one of them at random. I don't remember what I did with Castor's phone. Castor probably remembers what he did with his phone but doesn't particularly care. It's like when you text your friend and get a text back like "This is her boyfriend" or something because there's been a misunderstanding, except there probably hasn't been a misunderstanding.

The two of them eat through an insane amount of food. You would not believe how much food they eat through.

One of the places they likely pass their time together is the Sports Deck. They might ask how certain modern games are supposed to be played a couple times, and Pollux is happy to invite others who look interested to play with them.

Photos at Sea will feature pictures of Castor and Pollux throwing girls over Castor's shoulder like sacks of potatoes, Castor folding little doily flowers with Fio while looking very serious about his arts and crafts, and Pollux mid-fall kicking Jason in the nuts.

Castor is liable to be found spacing out wherever he happens to be on the boat, especially if Pollux is nearby and doing something he's not particularly interested in himself. If it's just him though, he can regularly be found doing this on the deck, looking out into the ocean.

Out of the restaurants and amenities provided, Castor is partial to Sand Dollars. Whether it's because it's one of the few places not focused on serving alcohol, or because (if nobody else is doing so) he is collecting a couple doilies is anyone's guess. If you do catch him sniffing around the Hurikane, which he also does, you can notice that he waters down his wine. A lot.

He's actually very much less of a bitch when Pollux doesn't seem to be around. Actually, he's pretty normal then.

Pollux

Pollux can often be found hanging out in the library! She's a big fan of human stories and the knowledge they've collected, and will happily chatter away with other passengers about the books. Feel free to give her recommendations!

Pollux likes to hold people's hands, and warm them with energy even though she's not supposed to.

She also hangs out around the gym. Sometimes she's practicing for fun, sometimes she's observing others and may make comments about the style or form they use (curious or giving advice), and sometimes she seems to be eagerly waiting for a certain someone to show up.

Natsuno texts him to stop throwing shit against the shared wall because he can't sleep (a totally unnecessary sleep) (at 12 pm) (only happens because Jade needs to be reminded he will never get the bed)

Natsuno Yuuki, Room 109

- Natsuno doesn't really need to sleep, so he's around even in very late hours! He usually eats in Windjammer and prefers nighttime, and often gets "coffee" from one specific machine (blood, he drinks blood). Sometimes there are red rings glowing in his eyes. Don't worry about it.

- Pool deck: Where he watches movies. They're all campy as hell and he won't admit to enjoying them.

- Library: visits several times a week, though he can also be found reading in Sand Dollars. He reads mostly horror, mystery and lately mythology.

- Sports deck: used for target practice. He sets up ping-pong tables with items and shoots at them.

- Arcade: where he goes for a distraction. He plays pretty much anything but isn't particularly invested in beating the score.

- Around: like a true angsty teen, feel free to spot him in various places and ledges, staring glumly at nothing while listening to power metal. He probably spends a lot of nights like this. Also, if your character is doing anything interesting or plot-related, he might be lurking around trying to snoop.

Nobunaga Oda | Room 130

- This stupid crazy mofo doesn't take his armor off. Except the helmet which is there ~in spirit~ because anime laws of physics. There's a crazy black and red cloak with the Oda mon on the back, and it's on the front of the cuirass. He's trying to test leaving parts off, but ehhhhh paranoia though.... And how else would anyone know he's fucking insane the Demon King? etc.

- Nobunaga starts every morning greeting the sunrise and PROBABLY loudly yelling something like "OHAYO AMATERASU!!!" at the sun. If asked he will explain that's the rule in Hell. Because she left them and they miss her or something. This is 100% bullshit. There's some metaphorical shit about religion in there, yes, but he's taking it too far, like everything else he does. He is almost ALWAYS up before dawn, no matter how hung over. It'll be noticeable if this routine ever fails (it hasn't yet)

- Then he does various exercises, and a fuck ton of kata and the only time he unsheathes the katana (usually) without meaning to murder someone/defend himself. He is studying the sports, but he's not willing to try a lot of them without studying first, but anytime anyone mentions needing another member, (before 8 am) he'll join. yay.

- Then it's over to Sand Dollars, and nope, he still hasn't tried coffee oops. He will. Maybe. Probably. But he's almost religious about the green tea. Only don't tell him it's religious or he'll dump it out and try the coffee to spite gods or something. So maybe do tell him idc.

- He's still an over grown 5 year old about food. "What's this? WHAT'S THIS?!?!?!" And the crazier it looks the more he'll eat it. EXCEPT Lobster. If asked, he'll say "that's cannibalism." Which is a deadpan joke on his armor (lobster furry? lobster furry) - But the truth is he's just like "ew sea bugs." Because he's a 5 year old. He still can't stop overloading himself on desserts, because again, 5yo. And then whenever this happens (every other day!!!) he goes to Mikabo to "detox" on familiarity.

- He makes shivs and weapons out of everything. He has a sharpened fork on him at all times now and he is just waiting to use it.

- Anyone openly carrying a gun will get approached. He will show off his own rifle. He loves guns. Loves guns. They are his first true love.

- He is actually going to try to read every volume EXCEPT romance in the library. But first he's going through the textbooks Cesar Salazar is lending him. He might talk out loud to the books, so he usually tries not to stay in the library. This is also a trap card, if you talk back to him, he will talk your ear off and ask so many questions.

- Trying to clean up and organize Tommy Bahamas despite the others who trash it on the regular; just to see if it can be done, and because it's a weird zen thing for him. No really. ++ Bahamanal makes up for the sudden lack of assassination attempts, so he's literally playing tag with the monster. Complete with not hurting it (probably. If you punch clothes, even if it's crazy strong the kind of punch that could kill an elephant and with those demon gauntlets, it's still clothes... right????) and occasionally just letting other people play bait for him. Yeah.

- ALL THE BARS! - Less commonly at Tauva or the Drunken Sailor because sensory overload (but Tauva for the 2nd hand smoke when he misses Hideyoshi) but he'll be everywhere/anywhere without given warning, because it's just dependent on his mood and he doesn't have his nannies generals around to keep him on track. He's now memorized 2/3rd of Billy Joel's repertoire. He doesn't get a LOT of the songs. And he's desperate to ask someone. Alas. ONE DAY. Hurrikane + Poolside bar will get a lot of him going through crazy crazy drinks colors & flavors. Though he's starting to wind down now.

- Ice cream. He has achieved the dream. He ate all 31 flavors. Possibly the human flesh one too. Feel free to ask him about it. "Not bad, prefer the real thing." Is that a joke? WHO CAN SAY. His favorite ice cream is cotton candy. Someone give him real cotton candy sometime. He will nearly *cry* when the ice cream runs out in Oct and literally take responsibility and volunteer seppuku. He won't ACTUALLY over it, (prooooooobably?) but yanno. Drama llama.

- He runs (loosely "runs" I think "abducts people into" is probably more accurate) poetry club in the lounge at 7pm. You can volunteer to be literally kidnapped into it, he will carry people over his shoulder. He only writes haiku atm but has some Portuguese cantiga de amigos memorized, and could certainly learn more. He also is trying to get (... brave?? That's not the word we want. relaxed?) into an emotional / mental mindset to do karaoke more. Yeah. It's a work in progress. He tries not to bring down the vibes though!

- At least once a week, more if he's in a mood, he'll sneak into the theater and just chill out there with the ghosts, and his own internal ghosts missing certain people, just a weird crazy haunted set of armor, like phantom of the opera. Lobster of the theater idefk. He won't actually talk to anyone during these. So he's just there. Ominously. He might write his own ghost story and pretend it's not even really him there, just some ghost that looks & acts like him. And he will wear a mask whenever inside -- except for Bingo. Loves board games, Bingo is a group board game = perfect.

- Every so often he'll seem like he's asleep on the lounge chairs, but it's a lie. He's just biding his time. Also he fails at other chairs. At the bar, lounge, and Sand Dollars, he is all kinds of awkward on them, and probably has tried upending one and sitting on it upside more than once now. There are no chairs in hell.

He will definitely silently listen in at least one night, but he'll be quiet as fuck (for once, he's so loud...) and wearing a mask.

But they will definitely see each other at John's and karaoke. Who approaches whom first is now a game.
