JULY EVENT INFO: KNIGHTS AND KNAVES

no sign-up sheet goes up on Friday's desk. perhaps this will be a nice, quiet month?

for the entire month of July, starting on the 1st and ending midnight on the 31st, contact with water will cause characters to be inflicted with a curse: for an hour, characters will only be able to speak the absolute truth OR complete lies.

- the characters are entirely unaware of what they are saying; to their minds, they will be speaking normally, and saying whatever they actually meant to say. they can, however, be told that they are doing this, or what they are saying, and are free to believe it, or not.

- after the hour is over, characters become aware of what has happened and recall everything that they've said.

- there is no innate compulsion to speak. staying silent is a viable way of counteracting the curse.

- HOWEVER, texting or writing isn't. written words will be impacted, and now you're just leaving an embarrassing paper trail.

- any amount of physical contact with any source of water will inflict the curse. these sources include, but are not limited to: showers, sinks, pools, fountain drinks, bottled water, ice, the ocean.

- non-water liquids (liquor, canned drinks that aren't water) are not impacted.

- the hour begins after contact with water ceases (i.e. character leaves the pool, swallows the water) and can be extended, up to indefinitely, by further contact with water.

- rain is also impacted. luckily, the weather is always so nice! except, it's actually going to rain, all day, every weekend throughout the month. it's never more than a light drizzle, but it's enough.

feel free to use this post as a plotting post!

Are characters stuck to pick one: curses or lies through the whole month, or might they be lying one day and truthtelling the next?

dont mind me just deleted a stupid question

other question. is the weekend rain forecastable? Like noticing the atmospheric pressure change, winds picking up before it actually starts raining, etc. or do clouds just roll in from the horizon

This is only relevant to himself and one other character, but would Ebalon's mind magic (the telepathy portion of it) also be affected by the curse?

You know why I have to ask this SIGH

1. So if person 1 takes a drink of water and then immediately kisses person 2... passionately, does person 2 also end up affected.

2. If person 1 is damp from a shower and touches person 2, is person 2 affected?

3. How... how is physical affection affected?

Just to clarify on how much fucking with people we can do, how much control do characters have over the truths or lies they're telling? If they're aware they've been affected by truth or are trying to test it out, can they respond to a direct question with a truthful deflection (like answering "Have you ever killed anyone?" with a list of penguin facts)? Or does the 'characters think they're responding normally' apply to everything?
