if he had to change one thing it would be his height, prooobably also would love to not need glasses. (i chose to make them real instead of plano b/c i love the jinkies opportunities) eridan's like, 5'4"ish and some change, which is an average height for a 13 y/o human soooo that's what i went with. he wishes he were taller and i imagine when he hits his like, last growth spurth he just fuckin rockets up to the awkward gangly 6'2" asshole he's destined to be
π₯ : i'll be real i don't know what they've added to alternian lore (esp through hiveswap, since all ive seen of that is eridan's route in the friendsim) so i'm not sure if i'm accurate here. anyway:
i like to imagine that eridan was one of the few violet blooded seadwellers whose hive was predominantly on land (others being semi or fully aquatic with topside "vacation" home type shit), so he probably wasn't taken very seriously by any of his neighbors. that's probably why his friends are all relatively far away (i think gamzee is the closest outside of fef??)
as for the planet itself, he was/is very nationalistic and pro alternian conquest, but i like to think any sincerity in that died off when the planet was destroyed. the fact that he decided to destroy ALL of the trolls in a fit of rage tells me that in the end, he didn't care about troll society and its inherent superiority -- he just felt like an outsider and uses that shit as a crutch.
all this to say: he puts up a big stink about alternia but at the end of the day, he feels largely disconnected from it. he'd be happy anywhere so long as he felt like he was part of the in-crowd.

i genuinely don't know if therapy is even something that alternia HAD as like, a major thing? but if it was, eridan went up until they started making him do things with Accountability and Introspection. then he was like "nah too much work"
anyway: none of the kids in homestuck are healthy mentally, that's like, the whole point, we all know this, it's nothing new. but eridan's major problems stem from severe isolation and a serious sense of disconnect between him and everyone around him. he has BIG FEELINGS and he has them all the time, but because he was raised by a fucking seahorse he doesn't know how to express them in any healthy way. so what happens is he has BIG FEELINGS "too much" around someone, who then pulls away from him, and he feels hurt, so he lashes out at them, making the whole thing worse. then eventually, they need something from each other again and the cycle rinses and repeats.
it feeds into a whole cycle of self-sabotage that at this point is only continuing because ending it means admitting he fucked up so much in the past. it means acknowledging that people kept trying to help him and he kept turning them away, and there's so much shame and humiliation there that he doubles down on being an asshole out of fear. he keeps hoping someone will come along to tell him he was absolutely right and all of the people who have told him otherwise were losers, but it ain't happening. MAYBE THAT'S THE HOPE HE HAS TO DESTROY MOST OF ALL
anyway tldr, google "psychology of boys at risk for fascist indoctrination" that's pretty much eridan.
fuck dude i didn't even touch on the fact that he has a predisposition to violence based on his blood type. idk if that ended up being bullshit hemospectrum propaganda or not though so we won't worry about that right now

Iβd imagine Alternia very much does not have therapy. Or the therapy they do have might be more like debriefing in the military, meant to minimize trauma so they can go back out and fight some more.
But yesss that all very much makes sense for Eridan. Thinking about how some of those patterns are similar to how Karkat is, and thatβs probably one of the reasons they used to get along so well.
And yeah I have no idea whether or not thatβs hemospectrum propoganda. I think itβs canon that the higher bloods are much physically stronger than the lower bloods but the lower bloods have heightened magic/telepathic abilities.

in reality he is a 13 y/o who was raised by a fucking seahorse, sooo the fact that he knows how to tie his own shoes is pretty impressive to me. i think because he's the kind of guy who WANTS to be a know-it-all, he tends to look up everything people tell him, hoping to find some way where he can prove he's smarter (and therefore better) than them.
also, he has literally no social/emotional intelligence, and so the only way you can tell he's smart is when he isn't talking about himself. but he's ALWAYS talking about himself, sooooo....
