18. What do they think about before falling asleep at night?

Recent developments mean he thinks about Ava a lot before bed (not like that) just in a counting his blessings kind of way.

Otherwise, he's haunted by the things that have been done to him in the past. Falling asleep is harder after having people come to mess with him in the night routinely. The memories come back to him sometimes in the quiet.

He has a lot of hidden little talents. He's been putting his drawing skills on display lately, as well as his fencing talent. He's also an accomplished boxer and skilled woodcrafter. He also is good at codebreaking and cyphers. He keeps that one under his hat a little more, but Ava has been giving him reasons to bring it out recently.

As far as habits, one he tries to keep hidden without a lot of success is the way his fingers dance and jitter when he's agitated. He also tends to pace a lot.

Apparently, he's seen as a 45 year old. LOL. But, yeah, he's seen as pretty old fashioned and often like a grumpy old man which isn't... wrong. He's strict and can seem like a real stick in the mud. But, give him enough time, and he will start to show his troll side. He has more of a sense of humor than people think, it's just very dry humor.

His reputation does matter to him. He'd like to be looked upon favorably. That said, he isn't afraid to make a name for himself good or bad if it's him standing for his principles. So, if people don't like him for that, he will tell them to shove it. He's not ashamed of who he is.

He's not very religious. It's likely he might have grown up loosely in the church of England and he's traditional enough that he probably does believe in heaven/souls, but he is by no means devout or an active participant of religion.

Classic literature. He's shown to be a reader of William Shakespeare for sure. He enjoys heavily philosophical books. He's not really into pulpy or romantic types of books.

1. He is a sharp dresser and he takes a lot of care in his presentation. Shaves every morning, greases his hair, wears cologne. He just takes a lot of pride in looking well-put-together.

2. He is very intelligent and extremely quick witted. He has a good balance of street smart and book smart going for him. A lot of it is self taught, because he is very motivated and a fast learner. It helps that acquiring the right knowledge could literally have meant the difference between life and death for him, so he's got a lot of reasons to be smart about how he handles things.

3. It's a little of both. He tries to be analytical and logical, but he is a very passionate person and sometimes he makes decisions in the heat of the moment based purely on his emotions or instincts. That happens more often than he'd like to admit.

He has a predictable eating schedule. Always eggs and toast for breakfast, sometimes with bacon and beans if he's feeling like being traditional. He keeps lunch simple with sandwiches and then eats a heartier dinner. Given the choice, he does like to cook for himself and even for others. He is competent at it but doesn't usually do fancy meals. He's not obsessed with healthy eating, however, he does avoid eating sweets so he will stay trimmed. Since coming to Sail, however, that sweet tooth is starting to creep back.
