Instinctively, Karkat haaates wasting time. It makes him extremely anxious. He likes to make plans and schedules, and he likes when people ACTUALLY STICK TO THEM INSTEAD OF FLAKING OUT. He and Kanaya were both kinda the Mom Friend of the trolls, and his way of being Mom Friend was very βangry suburban housewife driving around in her SUV dropping off and picking up kids at various extracurriculars while they all bicker at each otherβ-core. (Steve might relate to this).
However, for about a year, heβs been living in a place somewhat similar to the Serena in that thereβs nowhere to really go, they just have to kill time. And his own mental health has definitely taken a dip since he stopped feeling like he could be productive on anything.

- I donβt know that thereβs anything in canon about Karkatβs eating habits. I wanna say that heβs the βeat your feelingsβ type. Likes lots of junk food and sweets. Heβs the type to watch The Notebook with a bucket of ice cream by himself, sobbing, at 2 am. I donβt think he cooks. He probably is pretty regular about mealtime because he likes having a schedule.
