Ah.

How odd, I don't think that at all. [ goals, him? his goal is to drink and sleep. protect the country if it can't save itself. other than that he lets almost everyone their complete freedom to do what they will... he barely imposes at all. is that compassion? it's the near-empty promise of the wind that wishes of hope but barely does anything to win it.

and now he has one tentative goal he's not sure he could achieve until another 500 years. ]

I do. You've gone out of your way to try and put precautions in place to make sure I was safe. You wouldn't even take my concerned and "no"s for an answer because you wanted to make sure I'd be okay above all else. If that's not compassion, I'm not sure what is~.

[ Granted, it was also just more of Venti's demeaning, self-sacrificial bullshit, but… it still meant a lot to Mizuki. ]

The way you want to nudge people to doing the right things, the way you want to make sure people are safe, the way you want to strive for the best possible outcomes for everyone… if everyone had compassion like yours, we'd see a world, at last, where war doesn't exist.

If wishes were fishes... wishing and wanting is one thing, the conviction to achieve it is another. [ and probably what he lacks most, ] But that's likely what I admire most, when I see it in you.

[ There's been more than one instance, actually! But the one that immediately comes to mind, and is what Mizuki is thinking of, is when Venti told him his true name. That's just one example of quite a few, though. ]

Ehehe, you like to say you don't like to interfere and such, and that you want us to choose our own paths, but… I like this me. The one that I am with you. The Mizuki back home is way different from this one. Yet I'm much happier like this. Much… better, I think, too. And it wouldn't be possible if you weren't there for me.
