"Some things are likely best left a mystery." If it's something unsavory, Maeve is better off not knowing. Or at least she's less inclined toward the knowledge. Unless it offers her some way home, a way to her daughter. She doesn't know if she'll ever see her again back home, but there's absolutely no way she will here. Even if there was, she's not sure she wants her daughter in this place.
