I've been here thirty-three days and I don't see anyone progressing towards ... well I'm not sure what towards. Getting us off the ship, defeating the captain, figuring out how we even arrived here. Many questions, and only hints of answers."

He's definitely expecting to die here permanently. Not that he's giving up, but he likes to be a realist hence the adaptation to the environment. But that bothers him, how long would it take before everyone was acting like this is a second home?
