🥝 : (This tidbit isn't even headcanon lmao but) Jade has always had a fascination with the anatomy of living things! This manifested in Very Unfortunate ways in his youth, as one of his favored childhood past-times was once killing monsters on the outskirts of town with fonic artes and then taking apart the corpses to figure out how the body parts worked. In later years he'd also become extremely well-versed in the anatomy of the human body, mostly thanks to the years he spent in his resurrection-obsession phase proctoring human experiments trying to troubleshoot the biology of flawed human replicas, alongside often needing to do things like pull more replica data from dead soldiers to further said research pursuits. (The rumors back home about him picking through corpses on battlefields wasn't entirely unfounded in that sense tbh....) By extension this does mean he can actually field basic medical assessments just mostly thanks to being well aware of How A Body Works, but Jade is still quick to assure any who ask that he's very much not that kind of doctor; in fact, he pleasantly points out at one point in canon that his skillset in this category is more fitting for a mortician than anything else. ...But yeah that aside, while he's long since outgrown that nasty childhood habit of just killing animals for fun willy-nilly, he does still have a rather off-puttingly keen interest in things like dissecting and taking samples from particularly interesting creature specimens he's never encountered before--you know, when a corpse of such a thing might happen to become available! It's actually really funny (and extremely fortunate) how the overall lack of living things besides passengers in Sail means nobody's seen this side of Jade in action yet LMAO....it was a close call on salamander island tho, if he wasn't so preoccupied about the upcoming heist he probably would have taken a scalpel to some critter or another there. Also we're not looking at him very briefly succumbing to his old bone-collecting habits wrt that one time after Skulduggery crashed a car off a cliffside that was an extenuating circumstance all around ok--
To dip into actual headcanon a bit, though...! And add something slightly less cursed to this smh: I also figure that Jade is moderately knowledgeable about styling long hair! Which some might find surprising, considering his general personality and the fact that he rarely does much with his own hair himself. When he was a child he ended up teaching himself how to do a few nice hair things for his younger sister, though, and the knowledge has stuck as a latent sort of thing. He got to tap into this recently on the ship via teaching Fio how to braid her hair......
18. Back home it'd mostly have been a sort of mental review of the day's events, or mulling over implications or latent suspicions about certain things he's noticed in interactions with others here and there. Usually he'd be writing physical notes about things in some form right before going to sleep, too, so in-bed thoughts after putting out the light for the night would just be a mental extension of that sort of process. In Sail it's still pretty much these things too! ...Though sometimes there's added worries about the rather grim outlook of everyone's overall current existence here/all the things that could possibly go wrong based off the sparse hints of upcoming excursions/whatever awfulness is transpiring currently/thoughts about home, sometimes. ...It all boils down to yet more reasons why Jade doesn't really sleep much on the whole, tbh, this big brain of his just does not shut up sometimes rip
27. In canon, and pretty much to this day, Jade's best friend was Peony Upala Malkuth IX. This is the current crown emperor of Malkuth! ...Jade literally broke into his house when they were children! It's, a long story, but to date Peony has always been one of the few people in Jade's life who actually almost completely understands how Jade ticks, as a general rule; in turn, he's also one of the few people who can generally engage Jade as a flat equal in snide troll combat, and when they aren't giving each other a hard time they both mutually value each other's insights quite a lot. Alas, in Sail Jade's had yet to find any one friend quite equivalent to Peony, though he does consider Tear as one of his closest and most trusted allies currently, thanks to all they went through together with the rest of their party over the course of canon events before finding themselves here.
As to worst enemy: It'd probably be Van Grants, back home, for the absolute awfulness he tried to pull in literally genociding the world's population to replace it all with replicas, setting aside the cruel things he also put Tear and Luke through. Though that problem has...been taken care of, by the end of canon. There's still kind of a lot of bitter baggage revolving around Dist for many reasons as well--especially being singlehandedly responsible for spreading around the means of using fomicry on human beings even after Jade tried to ban that knowledge--though after certain events even that vehemence has simmered down just a little. In Sail the captain is honestly still kind of Enemy #1 for myriad reasons, even if Jade isn't necessarily on board with taking him out just yet (see: the headcanon blurb wrt death and dying and how he'd Really Prefer Not To Thanks up above). The man may have had much less of a directly malicious hand in the last few events to befall the ship, but Jade still hasn't forgotten that he's still the one keeping everyone captive on this boat currently, and he also hasn't forgotten certain things like the battle royale, or his initial claim that he believes suffering provides greater power than joy. It'd sure be great if Skulduggery's belief in him being capable of change bears fruit, but that needs more time to actually be seen, and Jade's not about to stop being wary of things turning for the worse again anytime soon. Otherwise, though, he doesn't have any particularly strong outright beef with the other current passengers here just yet! So, at least, there's that...!
