eridan is the perfect example of a character with high intelligence but low wisdom. he loves maritime history and i like to think he spends a lot of his time reading. not even because he likes it, but because it feels like something Smart people do, and He's Smart, so...
in reality he is a 13 y/o who was raised by a fucking seahorse, sooo the fact that he knows how to tie his own shoes is pretty impressive to me. i think because he's the kind of guy who WANTS to be a know-it-all, he tends to look up everything people tell him, hoping to find some way where he can prove he's smarter (and therefore better) than them.
also, he has literally no social/emotional intelligence, and so the only way you can tell he's smart is when he isn't talking about himself. but he's ALWAYS talking about himself, sooooo....
