"Detracting?" He doesn't know how she figures that, but he follows, and obediently sits in the chair she pulls out for him.

He's noticed her different appearance, of course. He's pretty sure she isn't a vampire, but she's more than human which instantly puts her over him on the pecking order. That's enough to get him to follow along.
