“We tend to be a secretive lot,” Palamedes confides wryly. This is definitely true, even if the reasons probably differ. “Though I should clarify—what we call necromancy is not entirely what people from other worlds seem to mean by the word. Necromancers can’t typically bring people back from the dead, for example. There are spirit-talkers, but revenants are unstable creatures, and they never stick around for long.” He gives a rueful smile. “I hope that isn’t too disappointing. I’m thinking of getting cards made up: Palamedes Sextus, Necromancer. But not that kind of necromancer.”
